I completely neglected my blog entries in the second half of 2018 and here a good portion of shame belongs on my head. And I could now find a number of excuses for not keeping the blog up to date, but it’s very simple: I just didn’t take the time, other things have been given priority.

Since 2017 was heavily influenced by frost in the early months, the quantities that could be filled in 2018 were very limited, so that we were not even able to put the bottling plant into operation. This is due to the fact that the system works exclusively via drop pressure, but requires a sufficient volume of liquid to be pushed down in order to start and maintain the filling.

Unfortunately, that was not possible with the individual quantities between 40 and 170 liters, so we had to become even more manual than we were before.

Rinsing the bottles in the spray station remained the same step as in previous years, only the bottling dragged on. The bottles were filled directly from the keg using a food-safe hose and clamp.

The only large quantity from 2017 is our Pinot Noir, which we have not yet bottled, but decided to give it another 9 months to let it go a little in barriques.

From now on there will be regular news again.
